The lake is a popular spot for anglers seeking bass, crappie, panfish and several varieties of catfish. Striped bass are stocked yearly. The wildlife resource commission has worked diligently to enhance fish habitats, improving native aquatic vegetation stands to promote spawning and food sources. Fishing tournaments are held at the reservoir on a regular basis.

We are less than a 10 minute drive from Riverbend Park with 19.7 miles of hiking trails, 8 miles of biking trails, and 1.25 miles of shoreline for fishing. We are located within 45 to 60 mins from multiple hiking trails in South Mountain, Linville Gorge and Falls, and Asheville areas. We are also about an hour from the US Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. A short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway, we are a convenient base camp for any adventure you may want to have in North Carolina.

Paddle around by the campground exploring the area. There is also a public put in up river at River Bend Park we can help arrange transportation to so you can paddle down the slow moving river to the camp. A leisurely 5 mile paddle. The river flows too slowly for tubing but is excellent for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and small water craft.

The long, irregular shoreline consists of many narrow coves and arms, giving the lake a feeling of endless, meandering waters. Nearly 40% of the shoreline is designated for preservation. The 1,300 acres of water provide plenty of space for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, and boating.
